Snapchat could be in for a big change

PALOS RANCHOS VERDES, California — Snapchat CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel was pretty tight-lipped about future plans, but one of the social messaging platform's key features, the need to hold your finger on the screen to see snaps, could be going away.

Spiegel told Re/code's Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher that he didn't wanted to give away any surprises, but also admitted that the app's signature feature could be holding the service back.

In general, the 24-year-old CEO said his team has a "maniacal focus on making great products and deepening engagement with [the] service." He also made it clear Snapchat and its tools, even those designed for the newer Stories feature, are designed for users first. "It's really important that Snapchat is built for people not brands.
