Baltimore's vulnerable children have a tough shot at improving their lives, data shows

After chaos ripped through Baltimore on April 27, manifesting in looted stores and burned-out buildings, everyone was talking about the city's kids

The kids had started the looting, they said. No, they didn't condone it, but they understood the kids' tightly-wound frustration. Many low-income kids in Baltimore have nothing to do, nowhere to go. They have few opportunities, little to look forward to

Now, a study on rising above poverty conducted by The Equality of Opportunity Project is bolstering those anecdotes
